The Carrot and Stick is a manifestation of our desire to bring together our favorite things in life; food, friends, family, the arts, and our community. We chose the CSA model for our farm because it does just that. We strive to provide our members with not only a share of farm fresh produce every week, but also an opportunity to be part of a small, vibrant group of people enjoying picnics, musical events, theatrical performances, workshops and more, out on the farm. Because we are a small farm, we get to know each of our members individually and consider our members to be our friends too. We had amazing participation and support from our member friends in our inaugural year. Whether it was building our stage, playing a chamber concert in the rain, or sharing a hot cup of cider while picking out pumpkins in the fall, we enjoyed every moment. Well…there were a few moments we could have done without. Like getting the tractor stuck in the field twice, and the deer, and the slugs…etc. But, the joy has far outweighed the struggle. While CSA member friends do take on a bit of the uncertainty of farming, we hope that like us, you find the quality of your produce and the warmth of the CSA community make the journey well worthwhile!
Heart of the Summer
We are very excited about all the possibilities that a new growing season offers. In our third year as a Community Farm we look forward to improving on what we did last season as we continue to learn and grow.
Shares will be delivered to the parking lot near the farmers market, Depot Station, on Wednesday afternoons. A full share for our second season will be priced at $340 dollars. This is based on an average value of twenty dollars a week in produce. The season begins with many leafy greens and abundant radishes and progresses into a greater variety as the sun climbs higher in the summer sky. Flowers will be an additional $4 dollars per week if you are interested in receiving them. We have a total of 30 shares available this year. We hope that our season will be an abundant one and we will try to provide additional produce when possible. Items such as canning beans, tomatoes and cucumbers, winter squash and pumpkins will be available for a reasonable additional cost.
